Our Mission

We aim to empower First Nations’ students to achieve their academic goals and access opportunities beyond school, whilst improving non-Indigenous Australians’ understanding of and sensitivity towards First Nations cultures, values and issues.

Closing the Loop

At YEP, we seek to foster the process of closing the ‘loop’. Our team provides free, high-quality academic support and tutoring to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander high school students, as well as meaningful pathways advice concerning future tertiary and vocational opportunities. We hold that there is a deep value in reciprocity. As such, we are creating a platform that allows non-Indigenous Australians to learn from First Nations peoples as well. We envisage a ‘loop’ of mutual responsibility. This calls us not only to address deficiencies in understanding of First Nations cultures, values and issues, but also to ensure that the onus to solve educational inequality is borne mutually.
