Free academic support
Volunteer tutors deliver high-quality academic support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander high school students during school terms.
Budyeri kamaru · Hello in Gadigal
Yalbilinya Education Project (YEP) provides free, high-quality tutoring and pathways advice for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander high school students across Sydney — and creates space for all Australians to learn from First Nations community leaders.
We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the lands on which we live and learn, including the Gadigal people of the Eora Nation, and pay our respects to Elders past and present. We extend that respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples across Australia.
About YEP
Founded by six university students of diverse cultural backgrounds through the Susan Wakil Fellowship, YEP grew from a shared commitment to reconciliation into a registered Public Benevolent Institution serving Sydney’s First Nations students and the wider community.
Volunteer tutors deliver high-quality academic support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander high school students during school terms.
We guide students toward future tertiary and vocational opportunities so learning opens doors beyond the classroom.
We create platforms for all Australians to learn first-hand from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community leaders.
What we do
Educational inequality cannot be solved by one community alone. YEP is designed as a loop of mutual responsibility: supporting First Nations students academically, while strengthening non-Indigenous Australians’ understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories, and contemporary issues.

In 2020, co-founders Anastasia Uricher, Ben Kaufman, Noah Cass, Trayden Mundine, Will Choy, and Jasmine Jahani came together under the Susan Wakil Fellowship. Their diverse cultural and educational backgrounds shaped a simple idea: tutoring should not be a privilege, and learning about Country, culture, and justice should not be optional.
Today, YALBILINYA EDUCATION PROJECT LTD is registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission, endorsed as a Deductible Gift Recipient, and continues to grow a volunteer community dedicated to educational equity in Sydney.
